The Best Vintage Shopping in NYC

New York City is a wonderful mix of shiny high-end retail, tiny vintage boutiques, and everything in between. Today we’re dishing on our favorite vintage stores for the fashion-obsessed.

For the celeb cred: New York Vintage

Beyonce, Julia Roberts, Nikki Minaj and Eva Longoria have worn New York Vintage clothes, and, judging by Instagram (here, here and here, for example), Lady Gaga is a regular. Browse the Chelsea showroom (some pieces are more than a century old!), or make an appointment for the private, rental-only archive for museum-quality, extra-valuable clothes.
New York Vintage: 117 W 25th St., 212-647-1107

For the ’90s look: Le Petite Mort

The ’90s are well represented in this Lower East Side store, with its Moschino denim jackets, Versace skater skirts and graphic tees celebrating the likes of Destiny’s Child and Selena. Once you see its tubular selection, you’ll join the ranks of #LPMBabes, who include That ’70s Show star Topher Grace.
La Petite Mort: 37 Orchard St., 646-370-6227

For the wedding dress: Shareen

Shareen has some of the most gorgeous wedding gowns in Manhattan. The bicoastal designer (she also has a giant warehouse store in Downtown LA) makes her own line, but shows four racks (around 150 dresses) devoted to vintage bridal looks, in addition to vintage dresses, rompers, skirts and more.
Shareen: 13 W 17th St., 212-206-1644

For the furniture: Furnish Green

This Midtown showroom displays a highly curated selection of vintage and antique furniture, much of it Mid-Century Modern, but also with unique Art Deco and Craftsman-style pieces. With five to ten new items each day, Furnish Green has a constantly rotating collection to help make your apartment the raddest one in town.
Furnish Green: 1261 Broadway, 917-583-9051

For the uptown cool factor: JB b.o.r.n. Vintage

Harlem’s JB b.o.r.n. Vintage has the same fashionable looks as the high-end boutiques of Nolita, but foregoes all pretension. The helpful and hilarious staff make shoppers feel at ease as they peruse the racks of vintage designer clothings from the likes of Dior and Burberry.
JB b.o.r.n. Vintage: 57 East 125th St., 212-722-3706

For the extra-vintage: Ritual Vintage

Edwardian robes, flapper dresses from the ’20s and 19th-century capes line the racks at Ritual Vintage, a SoHo boutique specializing in historical and vintage designer clothing dating from the 1850s. If you ever want to bring back the bustle, here’s your place.
Ritual Vintage: 377 Broome St., 212-966-4142

For the gents: Gentlemen’s Resale

Most vintage shops in New York City skew heavily towards the ladies, but the aptly named Gentlemen’s Resale, on the Upper East Side, is all about men. Find vintage and resale looks at ridiculously low prices from designers like Armani and Versace. For even better deals, visit on the first of the month, when Gentlemen’s Resale sells many items at half off.
Gentlemen’s Resale: 332 E 81st St., 212-734-2739
