Six Ways to Celebrate July 4th in NYC
We never need a reason to celebrate, but Independance Day is always a good excuse to get the festivities going. New York does Independence Day right with fireworks, baseball and rooftops. Here are five ways to celebrate July 4th in NYC this year.
The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks
The Macy’s 4th of July show has wowed audiences for 41 years. The 25-minute show sees talented singers join the West Point Band to perform 10 songs timed to fireworks. This year, artists include star opera singer Jamie Barton, who will sing “The Star Spangled Banner,” and Tony-winning Heather Headley, who will perform a rendition of Elvis Presley’s rousing “If I Can Dream.” will take place over NYC’s East River, starting at 9:20 pm.
The Outdoor Yoga
Celebrate Independence Day by freeing the mind and body from stress at a morning yoga class in Bryant Park. Yoga Journal instructors will lead the class, and luxe outfitter Manduka is providing the mats. Namaste!

The Shopping deals
Expect an influx of special deals in your inbox during the days preceding July 4th. Racked, the source for all things fashion, publishes an annual list of the best sales around town just in time for the holiday weekend. Even mega-brands like our partners Lord & Taylor get in on the action. Shopping on a Monday? Yes please!
The Beaches
Though New York City is known as the “concrete jungle,” there are actually beaches with plenty of sand for lounging all day. Beat the summer heat and head to Rockaway Beach, Coney Island or Fort Tilden Beach in Brooklyn.
The Party
Industry Kitchen, a New-American restaurant on South Street, is hosting an Independence Day Party. Located along the East River, guests will have access to some of the best views of the Macy’s fireworks in town. Tickets to the event include a premium open bar and hor d’oeuvres.
Tickets prices start at $100, Industry Kitchen’s 4th of July Celebration.
The Baseball Game
Nothing says America quite like a game of baseball. Gather a group of friends and head to Yankee Stadium, where the New York Yankees take on the Toronto Blue Jays. The big game starts at 1:05 pm.

The Rooftop pools in NYC
No need to head all the way to the Hamptons to take a swim in the pool. There are some pretty chic pools to dive into right here in the city. For the ultra-exclusive, SoHo House has a swimming pool with views overlooking downtown Manhattan and the Hudson River. You’ll need a membership to sunbathe here, but with the pool open year-round, this might be your best investment.
