The New York City Poetry Festival connects writers and poets from all corners of this classic literary city. Acclaimed writers such as Patricia Smith and Yusef Komunyakaa are among many accomplished poets who have participated in this event. The festival cleverly captures an age-old picture of New York City as a conglomeration of accomplished and unknown artists equally fueling one of the most inspiring and powerful metropolitan landscapes in the world. Presented by the Poetry Society of New York, the purpose of the New York Poetry Festival is to spread poetry across as many different platforms and disconnected literary scenes as possible. Help spread the word and have an exciting, thought-provoking experience in the process. The event will take place July 26 and 27 on Governors Island.
